Advance users please read
I jailbreaked my iphone firmware 2.2 thanks to the help from people on this forum, and now i am thinking about updating to 2.2.1 and jailbreak it. I have some questions before i make the transition.
1) will i lose all my game save files? after i do the update and jailbreak it with a custom firmware, which i assume wipe out the whole OS and install a custome one.
2) will I have to copy back all my itune musics back into my iphone again? I disable music sync in itune since I like to copy them manually myself.
thanks for the help in advance. you guys are the best.

Just stay on 2.2. There's nothing worth upgrading for in 2.2.1

Here's the skinny. If you sync your phone with iTunes prior to upgrading/jb'ing/etc, after you get to 2.2.1 and working. When you connect again, iTunes will ask if you want to set up as a new phone, or restore from a prior backup. For me, that backup has always contained all user data (App Data, contacts, sms's, game plays, etc, etc, etc) I've never lost a thing telling iTunes to use an existing backup to set up this 'new phone'.
This does not apply to Cydia apps.
Also, because you manually sync music --- you're on you own to put back.
Remember, after going to 2.2.1 and jb'ing .... your phone is factory fresh.
But .... no guarantees here. Your mileage may vary
Last comment: I concur --- Stay with 2.2
. Nothing special in 2.2.1
