Did i brick my phone?
okay so,
i have a 3g iphone with 2.2 firmware and on the 2.28.00 baseband...
i put a lot of software mods onto it through cydia and it began running kind of glitchy so i went into the general settings and went to reset, then i chose erase all content and settings so that i could start fresh, put it on the 2.2.1 firmware and re-jailbreak it, using pwnagetool like i had done previously, and re-unlock it using yellowsn0w... anyway, when i went to reset all settings it said it could take about an hour... but it seemed to have finished in about forty minutes, and my pineapple boot logo came back, it stayed like that for about ten minutes then the loading ring came up over the boot logo and the screen went black.... now it just keeps doing the same thing over and over
1. boot logo for ten minutes
2. loading ring for about forty seconds
3. screen goes black
4. repeat...
i didnt think that erasing the content on my iphone would hurt it... what did i do wrong? and how can i fix this?
thanks in advance

just to a full restore. you messed something up. make sure you start the whole process in DFU mode

sure can. no worries
How To: Enter DFU Restore Mode - ModMyi - Wiki
Then just do the shift restore of your custom firmware
if your running on a mac with a particular OS version there are issues with DFU. have you researched and/or fixed this if applicableLast edited by cricketlang; 01-30-2009 at 03:37 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

alright... so im on my way...
heres my hardware specs... im not entirely sure how to check if this is the hardware that has problems with DFU mode
Hardware Overview:
Machine Name: iMac G5
Machine Model: PowerMac12,1
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (3.1)

About this mac.
If you have 10.5.6 you need to install the iousb10.5.5 files, there is a glitch in 10.5.6.
Also, you mentioned 2.2.1 in your first post.
If you want to use yellowsn0w, don't restore to 2.2.1 then run quickpwn, either restore to 2.2 and quickpwn or create a custom 2.2.1 with pwnage tool and restore to the custom firmware.
you probably know this but it could be the difference between a locked and unlocked iphone for the time being.
resetting the iphone through the settings is pointless. just restore in itunes if you want to start a fresh.
if you use the pwnage tool for mac, download the 2.2.1 firmware from apple, use the pwnage tool to create a custom 2.2.1 firmware then hold alt+click restore in itunes you will be able to restore to the latest 2.2.1 and still use yellowsn0w as the custom firmware stops the baseband update.
the dev-teams blog has links to the iousb10.5.5 files. The Original Autobot of MMiJesus couldn't turn into a fire engine

Same thing happened to me, I had to put my phone in DFU mode through the wall outlet and not the computer. Once it kicks the phone into DFU mode, your computer will recognize it. And since you are running 10.4.11 you don't need to do the above steps.

just start with the default firmware if you can just to get it running. then just plug it into itunes as normal and do a shift restore. make sure you use 2.2 as your firmware though.
