Do I need too get a data plan with a jailbroken iphone?

I have a 1st gen. iphone that is unlocked and jail broken and want to know if I still have to have a data plan for it by AT&T ?

You only need the data plan if you want the Interwebs and whatnot.

I'm wondering why you unlocked it though if you're on ATT...?

If you're on TMobile or something, just get the TMobile data plan.
