Question accelerator issues! what do you guys think?

Hi guys! Im new to this forum, and got a bit of an issue at hand. My issue is that I have had the iphone less than a week and all was fine untill today. When viewing a photo & turning the iphone it will would not go into landscape mode nor would it in the album viewer. In a game it was locked into going to the left (up in landscape mode). ok, so whilst reading up on the subject in a forum, sombody had said to give it a couple of taps on the back of the phone. Well to my suprize , it actually worked. But im not very convinced that will sort it out permenantly nor know why this happend. So, here are my cuestions that I hope some of you brainiacs can answer:

    - Why give it a couple of taps on the back?
    - Why did this happen?
    - Will it happen again?
    - Is this a common error with the iphone?
    - Should I take advantage of the guarantee and have apple fix it? - If so how long would it take?

Ok, thanks a bunch guys in advance!!!
    Great forum!
    Cheers!! Bye bye...

    Hope this would help.

Q - Why give it a couple of taps on the back?
A - its a motion sensor so making it sense a couple of hard motion like a couple of taps would sort what ever is making it stuck.
Q - Why did this happen?
A - Because the sensor is stuck
Q - Will it happen again?
A - I dont know, but to my experience it happened to me once last year and it never happened again.
Q - Is this a common error with the iphone?
A - It happened to me once so now there are two of us so i guess it is.
Q - Should I take advantage of the guarantee and have apple fix it? - If so how long would it take?
A - Definitely, you should take advantage of what ever guarantee apple gives. If you do take advantage of this guarantee, as apple support says it:
The service process normally takes up to three business days if arranged through Apple Technical Support. Service in an Apple Retail Store is normally completed while you wait.

Take some time to before you make a decision if you are going to send it back to get fix. As I said, it happened to me once and I gave it a couple of taps as well at the back and it never happened to me again and that was last year. If it keeps happening then do send it to apple for repair.

I hope this helps and if does i appreciate you taking the time to click that "Thanks!" button just below this post.
