Can't find out firmware on Iphone

sorry if this question has been asked before, i tried searching and googling but nothing came up. i just bought an iphone off of my friend and i'm trying to find out the firmware. (it's unactivated) from what i've read, you have to type in *3001#12345#* in the emergency calls. but when i type that in and try to hit call, nothing happens. it won't call it. can anyone help me?

i can't do that, my iphone is unactivated - the only two things i can do is look at the screen that has the usb plub that points to itunes, or slide to the emergency calls, which doesn't even work.

use quickpwn 2.2 to activate

restore in itunes to 2.2 and then download these files with quickpwn 2.2
