Uh oh, I think it's dead.....

I do not understand what's happened here. 8gb 3g, been sat on my bedside cabinet for the last 3 days. I turned it on this morning and all i get is a white screen with a load of random blue/grey lines up the side of the screen.

i know it's "on" as it still makes a click when i swipe to unlock. but i can't do a thing with it as that's all the screen will display. I can even see the lines for a few seconds after I turn the phone off, which leads me to believe the screen has gone.

Is it terminal?

Problem is i bought it 2nd hand so i don't have any insurance or warranty or anything.

i would still take it to the apple store and see what they have to say. the worst they can say is you gotta pay.
