Default Clarification - Wireless vs. 3G Network - Which has priority?

Hey folks, little clarification here (if anyone know)...

Does the App Store use the AT&T network exclusively? Or will it use a wireless network when available?

And on a jailbroke phone, isn't there a way to phone this issue and make the iphone use the wireless network when available?

    Thanks for the help,

    Hal

    1. First it will try to use a wireless network. If one is not available then it will use AT&T"s network
    2. Goto settings/General/Network/Wi-Fi/Ask to Join Networks <<Turn that on

    Hey Broomhead,

I already have my iPhone set up for wireless, that's not the problem...

You see, the reason I originally asked this was I noticed that when I had updates to Apps via the App Store, they took FOREVER to download and install. I found this curious since I use a wireless network at the house. I wondered if the app store app was using the AT&T network exclusively to download apps.

    Does this make sense?

    Many Thanks,

    Hal

hmm. Maybe your Wi-Fi or internet connection is a little slow... Could it be slower then 3G connection speeds?

In addition to the time to download the app from the App Store, it takes time to install/clean up files from the old version if you are updating.

To answer your question, unless you get out of range of your WiFi, the phone doesn't kick back to cell phone internet service just to download apps.
