Success on Craiglist, got another iPhone 3G

for $300. It's an 8GB model (sucks b/c my last one was 16GB)

I bought it from this little 13 year old, we met at the mall. The iPhone doesn't turn on though. I ran the serial number on Apples Warranty website and it says that the warranty is still good until Oct 2009. Yay!!

I've been searching online on the issue with phone not turning on. Seems like nothing much you can do. I plugged phone into computer and it doesn't respond. Plugged into wall and the same thing. No physical damage and I looked in the headphone jack, no apparent sign of water damage, it's white.

Set up an appointment at the Genius Bar so hopefully I'll walk in and walk out with another iPhone 3G. I've been going through hell this past week with the passing of Applelonia. Thank god I got another one. His name is Applelonius.

Remember, there is also a water sensor located around the dock connector.....so.....it could have gotten wet on the bottom.

Yeah. Hold a flashlight to the bottom of the phone, and turn it until you get an angle where you can either see the little white/red dot. If it's red, you could be screwed.

Lol @ the lube part. Doesn't matter I know the phone could be fixed or I wouldn't have bought it. To the dude who got the 3G 16GB you got really lucky b/c those are hard to come by on CL, believe me I looked.

I'll settle for this one for now, change the back casing to MMi blue which should arrive this week. Unlock, JailBreak, and YellowSnow and sell it on Ebay for 2X as much. Then I'll buy another 3G 16GB.

Yes. BTW I shined a light underneath and didn't see a red or white dot. Am I looking wrong? Oh yeah I just realized that I'm missing a screw at the bottom. I guess it was opened before, doh!. I think I have an extra one lying around somewhere.

If you can reach the red/white dot and it's red, Take a q-tip, soak it in bleach and lightly and methodically rub it till it turns white again. This can take up to 20-30 minutes to do, so go slowly, if you over soak it, it can come off, if it does soak it in the bleach directly (swirling occasionally to remove the red dye, and then proceed to reattach it to the phone using a very very small amount of glue from a glue stick. I've done this before and it's been succesfull every time on phones from motorola, nokia, and recently an iphone 3g.
