Can i connect to a wireless lan drive to play mp3 files ?
Is a way i can connect to my wireless LAN Drive so i can access all my mp3s stored on there without going through my pc?
I have installed Orblive and it works fine but just takes up huge system process time and ideally id like to find an application that will let me stream my music direct from my lan drive to the iphone without the need of a pc/windows
any ideas ? many thanks in advance...

i would also be intersted in this one as it's something i intend to do.
i'm sure there will be a way with dtunes/vlc4iphone or something similar
never tried it but can you not just do it over ftp straight from safari?

ive tried ftp and dtunes - same problem with both , works fine until you go to open the files and then it simply says 'cannot play this movie'!!???
will give vlc4iphone a crack today....

ahh, well if it's movies your trying ot play then that is probably your problem. The iphone can only play a very limited number of filetypes and codecs. vlc claims to play a better range of videos but still rather limited.
you may need to re-encode the videos on your hard drive into something a bit more iphone friendly (mp4 or something?)
does it works ok with mp3s?

simplify, but you need an OS on both ends to run it.

That's actually where your problem lies. Your trying to connect to an network hard drive without intermediary support. Something either has to be on the phone or the computer.
