Question Switching from 2g to 3g Questions

I currently have a first gen 2g iphone which is jailbroked to the current code. I was thinking about upgrading to the 3g phone due to some of the rumors I heard about ATT downgrading all 2g signals in order to boost capacity for the new 4g network. Anyhow when I purchased my iphone It only cost me an additional $20 extra for unlimited data and 100 txt messages, but now for the 3g iphones ATT wants and extra $10 more for data and $5 more for 100 txt messages. If I purchase an iphone 3g phone and swap sims from my current 2g phone to the new 3g phone and jailbreak the 3g phone to avoid ATT from knowing I have a new phone? On the other hand I want to avoid paying the extra $15 month?

    Thanks

^Which you don't have to comply with if you don't want to... Just make sure you're not using 3G or you'll get hit hard.
