headphone mode problem, hardware ?
i have a 4gb vintage iphone. for last few days it has the classic iphone problem i.e. speaker & mic not
working, i can talk only in headphone or by loudspeaker. no song, games sound is coming thru the
speaker except the ring. incerasing/decreasing the vol shows Ringer (headphone).
Being expert on iphone, you all have known this right from it's birth, i guess.
From r&d on net, one solution was to plugin/plugout the headphone quickly many times, to be precise i did
it 72 time and won't try for 73rd time.
then soft reset-holding home & lock buttom together till the apple logo appears, this also didn't work.
being in India, i do not have genius people here.
Hard reset is also suggested but before taking this drastic step, i wud like to have u experts advice
I took the aux cable (stereo jack to a/v cable) to put in my audio system, this whole thing happened after
this. Now what I feel that this must've happened while both the terminal touched accidently while the ipod
was on.
but If this is what you feel too, pls gimme a solution, coulld it be a hardware problem ? something might
have burnt/short inside ?
when i showed it to few local iphone repairers, they told, that a point that detects that headphone is not
present in the female unit of iphone has bent and now is continously in headphone mode. And the whole
female unit needs to be changed. but these people are doubtable
so please gimme your opinion

Before you go to Apple or any repairing service, you try something below:
1-Unplug then re-plug headphones or any other compatible device into the iPhone’s audio jack several times and make sure there is no debris in the audio port.
2-Try a small long pointed needled wrapped in cotton to clean the socket.
3-Lint may be trapped in the socket.Try blowing into it or try canned air.
If these things did not solve your problem,go to repair service...

Toggle the silencing key. I just had this happen yesterday for the first time and when I toggled the sound key my sound came on.

If I've helped you, you can help me by clicking on that Thanks button.

$30 isn't that much considering the risk you may run into in opening your phone and screwing it up. I would just pay for it.
