Turning Off EDGE on iPhone 3G??

Hi there.

i Have got a jailbroken iPhone 3g with latest firmware 2.2. I just wanna know that if i turn off the EDGE in my BOSSPREF does it make any difference to the Speed. 3G is still ON, i have turned off only EDGE.

Suggestions??

Edge and 3G are 2 completely separate networks.

They have nothing to do with each other. So 3g will still run at 3g speeds, and edge will run at edge speeds.

You cant make calls with EDGE network right?? Its not for voice transfer although it is Enhanced Data for GSM Evolution.

Edge and 3g are DATA networks ONLY.

It has nothing to do with your voice coverage.

Ofcourse Voice is a data in itself, you have to pass the Voice data through some network right?? or i should say through some high speed network.

As i think , before iPhone 3G, iPhone 2g used this EDGE thingy as well to give reliable data transfer but then comes 3G which is ofcourse more speedy than EDGE, so in iPhone 3G we can use 3g and EGDE both. Correct me if i am wrong.
