Buy new iPhone from Apple for $300?

So this friend of mine has been boasting how he's got a brand new 3G iPhone for himself and his buddies for $300

His story, buy the phone and call the very next day to AT&T and claim you lost your phone, remove and throw the SIM card and jailbreak it..

I am new to US so don't know if this can be done and he's just inviting trouble.. I'm sure there wuold be a catch

Each and every phone has a unique serial number called IMEI that is part of the information available during a phone call. T-Mobile knows my IMEI and I assume the others do as well. Be very careful. I don't know if or what they are doing with it, but the info IS available.

This is true, I went to T-Mobile the other day to change something on my plan... and they told me that I have an iPhone. Big Brother is watching

they can tell owhen i had a 2g they told me my tzone will not work on my iphone anymore.

Yeah....he's full of crap.

There is no "genius" way to trick Apple and AT&T.....I laugh at all the time spent trying to figure one out.
