Shattered Glass

Hey dudes

Its a sad day.

I got out the car today and i missed sticking my iphone in my pocket

As a result it hit the ground and the outer glass screen is smashed

My question is , can I replace the screen, or do I have to buy the screen and digitizer?

and if so where can i get one.

Ebay only sells the lcd, digitizer and glass.

There is nothing wrong with my lcd

How do you know nothing is wrong with your LCD? Did you open it up yet? How do you know something is wrong with your digitizer?

With that being said if you are certain it's just the outer screen you didn't do a good job of searching.



It took me 4 seconds: went to ebay, in the search box typed: outer screen iphone

and found a lot of results averaging $10

well the LCD screen is fine, cause I can still see the images and use the phone.

I took apart my freinds Iphone that he left at my house as it is shot, it will not boot or switch on, So i asked him if I could get his screen, so I took it apart as per a guide and I could not get the glass to release from the digitizer. Is there an easy way???? cause it looks like its been stuck down using black bonding glue

Yeah I found loads on ebay but I thought u needed to replace both glass and the digitizer and I could not find that.

So is there an easy way to remove the glass?

Did you search for google for: iPhone (Whatver GEN you have) disassembly?

They have write-ups online with pictures as well.

yeah i did

and I followed the guide to take apart my friends phone as a tester cause it was fooked already

However I have just read another website that says its hard to take the 2g iphone screen off from the digitizer , and lcd. most times u end up cracking all 3 and that is when u need to buy the full replcement

I went out tonight and bought the new 3g iphone and think I will fire mine on ebay.

would make a cheep iphone for sumone wanting to pay £100 for the screen unit

Don't sell it, keep it and fix it up. You can then unlock, yellowsnow and sell it on Ebay for more than the cost of your 3G.

I did a search on google and found this:

"4) Now, the glass is GLUED ON TO THE LCD SCREEN, Be very careful, you do not want to puncture the LCD. This is where the GOO GONE comes in. Spray a bit on the exposed surfaces under the crack, DON'T GET THE INSIDE OF THE PHONE WET, this included the cables, and the logic board, and the battery!"

so u think its worth spending the £100 to get the new LCD/Digitizer/Glass. Or is there an easier way.

I just got my 3G phone tonight and I have 14 days to chnage my mind.... or get my 2G phone repaired

Did you read the post I just posted? Check it out. I mean if I were you I'd keep the 3G fix up the 2Gen iPhone and sell it. You'd make the money you spent on your phone back. That's just me.

ok just tried to pry the glass from the screen,and no ammount of stickey remover allowed me to get the screen to come free.

I have givenup on it. I have a few people at work who want my I phone so might see if they will fund the new LCD/Digitizer/Glass. then i will fit it all up.

I was loloking to get the iphone 3g at some point... just did not want to have to reaplce it under these circumstances
