Default Unlocked iphone 2.2 on t-mobile suddenly gets "no service"?

    Hi,

I have an iphone 4gb that I restored, then re-unlocked with firmware v. 2.2. It's on a t-mobile network, and it was working fine for a few days - working with itunes, etc.

Then a couple of days ago it lost reception completely, displaying a "no service" message all day, even in places it would normally get full reception. No calls, no texts, nothing. I tried a few things, like putting the sim into a regular t-mobile phone (it got reception) and putting it back into the iphone - i shut it off and restarted a few times, nothing seemed to work.

It got a signal yesterday, and was working fine until this afternoon, but then it lost it yet again. Has anyone had this problem? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I would do another restore and re-unlock.

But, it could also be a hardware failure.

What is padding a sim? I've never heard of it...

Aha. Thought about it too hard.

restore and unlock again is the backup option. anyone who's found another method, LMK
