IPHONE KEEPS CRASHING aka "SAD IPHONE" after upgrades in Cydia
HELP! IPHONE KEEPS CRASHING aka "SAD IPHONE" (SAFE MODE)
i have an iphone 2G with firmware 2.0.2 and i never had this problem until today when i upgraded cydias "essential upgrades"..there were 5 things. some of them were system related. among the installs were swirlyMMS (another language pack upgrade), beachball loader (upgrade from the other graphic fix), and some networking upgrades and system upgrades (unknown). ever since upgrading them about 10 minutes ago my iphone crashes after doing ANYTHING on it!! if i open any application it crashes as soon as i exit!
what the heck is this??

yes. its Mobile Substrate thats causing these crashes to the safe mode screen. its bullcrap especially since it happened just today from a NEWMobile Substrate "update".
i been doing a ton of hunting on iphone crashes and found that MOBILE SUBSTRATE is the primary culprit when it comes to the worst severe crashing issues (nonstop crashes). ive seen all kinds of explanations for those lame 'once in a while' crashes. THIS POST IS NOT FOR YOU! but Mobile Substrate causes these crazed crashes and it handles the "safe mode" response in the iphone as well. By removing this it WILL fix all your crashing issues, with the exception of any possible 3rd party bricks or crashes that cause bricks, however, Mobile Substrate is required to run all kinds of Cydia apps, like WinterBoard, and SBSettings just to name a couple. i removed it in Cydia and it removed a bunch of my Mobile Substrate based apps automatically, so BEWARE all you app junkies.
Mobile Substrate will automatically install while installing any app that requires it. so beware of that too.
for exapmle: when you install "backgrounder" it will include "Mobile Substrate" as part of the package.
as for me i care less. i just want my iphone working properly (for my iphone video out cord, downloads, movies, music, WiFi, streaming Radio, etc..)
needless to say, Cydia needs to work on a new Mobile Substrate update already and the one they put out this week is obviously faulty.
By the way everyone..removing Mobile Substrate DOES improve speed and performance somewhat in iphone 2G's and 3G's. this has been confirmed with dozens of users who removed Mobile Substrate but its not an official finding by experts. my apps are faster than before so there could be some truth to this.
anyone need help hit me up on this thread. ill be watching it for a little bit..

after you uninstall Mobile Substrate, reinstall it and you will be fine. this fixed my constant crash issues where my iphone went into safe mode after every application i opened.
i already told you removing Mobile Substrate would remove all your apps that require it!
"however, Mobile Substrate is required to run all kinds of Cydia apps, like WinterBoard, and SBSettings just to name a couple. i removed it in Cydia and it removed a bunch of my Mobile Substrate based apps automatically, so BEWARE all you app junkies."
look at the previous update!
not my fault. your fault for not reading the last TWO posts i made before that last one.
and yes it does work. A lot of people are having crash issues after updating Cydia this week and this is the solution so far..
ALSO try resetting your permissions if its not done automaticly while reinstalling Mobile Substrate.
thanks
