Default How much "available memory" do you have in SB Settings?

When you open SB Settings.. the very last line shows how much RAM you have available. The Mobile Substrate programs I have running are:

    1. Winterboard
    2. iRealsms
    3. SB Settings
    4. Quickgold
    5. Categories

My available RAM is always between 30MB - 36MB and I still have crashing issues with safari and mics games sometimes.

How much RAM do you have?!..... I'm just trying to see what's normal.

^Haha, it pretty much sits there. I used a well made Pwnage custom 2.2 FW file.

Thats HTML wallpaper, mCleaner and Notifier also.

Using Quickpwn I dont get nearly as smooth of a result.

I dont like Quickpwn......I used it when 2.2 first came out and my springboard crashed 3-4 times a day, and the phone ran sluggish. This has been appearant for me on 2.1 and 2.0 as well.

I guess its like everything else....take shortcuts, get shortcut results

Can you describe this a bit more?

Is this something you built up with Pwnage? If so, can you provide configuration recommendations?

Or was it an already built ISPW file? Can you disclose where you got it?

    TIA,
    JnC

33MB .... and I used QuickPwn and installed similar Mobile Substrate Apps. I also have occasional Safari crashes and would be interested in your results. I WILL start over w/Pwnage if your tests are successful. If successful, maybe you could share you 'custom' IPSW.

I usually have between 30-38, used quickpwn, Now I wish I had an apple computer to use pwnage and see what kind of results I get. I wonter why quickpwn causes this?

There's nothing "special" about it. I really think that running the build on a "good" machine (Mac) with plenty of RAM and processing power helps to create a "clean" file with minimal errors.

But I DONT do custom boot-up images (They have been known to cause issues) and I DONT install Installer (its basically useless anyways). You can up the partition size some, but I wouldnt worry to much about that, I have right at 2gb's of apps installed using the stock size partition and no problems.

Well, its hacking up the already installed system files....where as, with Pwnage....its building a custom OS all together.

I think I remember reading something on this, like a way someone can give you a custom ispw, then on windows use itunes go to dfu mode and shift something and load it on your phone?

    ^Yup, I have a custom FW file for 2g 2.1 and 2.2.....and FW files for 3g 2.1 and 2.2.

I run WinPC so I cant just build one whenever.....so I "re-use" the same file everytime.

You can do it by "tricking" Itunes.

But, DFU or Recovery mode will result in Itunes erroring out everytime. I'll explain how to do it if you need to know.

I do --- and have as well. But since this is a test, thought it would be beneficial to try the same IPSW on multiple phones.

Can you upload it somewhere and explain how to do it tricking itunes. I would like to try this and see what kind of memory it gives me compared to before.

Clean custom 2.2 ipsw install. With ONLY SB Settings and Mobile Substrate i'm at 51MB free. STILL not enough.

    After Winterboard - 49MB
Winterboard with Saurik theme - 40MB

With Quickgold (no WB themes) - 42MB

^^Do you know of somewhere I can host such a large file? I dont want to split it. I have a Rapidshare account but the file is way to large.

As far as re-using a custom FW file in Itunes, here you go:

    1. Open QUICKPWN, run through it just like you were gonna jailbreak the phone....when you get to the part where Quickpwn ACTUALLY starts the process..right after you place the phone into DFU mode....the screen on the iphone will TURN COMPLETELY WHITE....AS SOON AS THIS HAPPENS, QUIT/CLOSE QUICKPWN.

    2. If done properly, the iphone's screen will remain completely white.

    3. Now, go to Itunes and "shift-click" to load your custom FW file.

It will now restore using the file without any errors.

Better but no cigar. If we can find a place to host mine....you can try it.
