I need to get the contacts from my 2g onto the sim, so I can then install the sim in my new 3g and upload them to the 3g. Is there an easy way, that i'm being to slow and missing?? Thanx, Jay

You can always sync them to your computer then use your 2G to replace everything when you get your 3G.

Or go into /Library via SSH and manually replace them when you jaailbreak the 3G.

Or there used to be a program on Cydia to save contacts to the SIM, don't remember what it was called though.

i see you're using vista. here's what you do, sync your 2g contacts with vista's built in phone/address book, then sync your 3g with that same address book.

that 2.16 would be your jailbreak files. sounds like you might have upgraded to the newest firmware instead of restoring. i've heard you should always restore to the newest firmware and not upgrade. if you upgrade, you lose storage.

just for clarification isim is NOT for 2.x the windows address book answer would be the best for the original question here. as far as your other being huge other is everything that is not music, appstore apps, movies or music. i agree with the clean install and not not restoring from a backup or anything

    Hmmmm. That's the solution!!!

Downgrade the iPhone FW to < 2.0, sync with your computer contacts ..... then use a pre-2.0 app like iSim. Once finished, back to 2.2 (or?) and and and and....

A whole lot of work for a small gain. Think I'll just write 'em down and put in my wallet

iTunes will sync all this. Sync 2G and backup. Plug in 3G and restore from backup. Done

@StealthBravo. iTunes doesn't write/sync to the sim. Unless I'm reading incorrectly, a phone to sim copy was desired.

I know what he is asking and that is stupid. He says he wants to copy to sim so he can copy to his new 3g. Why?!?!? iTunes will copy the contacts over to his new phone fine without all this crap. The only reason to want to do this is if he wasn't going to an iPhone. Even then, a lot of new phones will sync with outlook/ical.

Why make it harder on yourself?

Truth is, there are many good reasons to have at least a few contacts backed up on the sim. If it was a stupid idea, no other phone manufacturer would have the option ---- but EVERY other manufacturer does!! Apple is the outsider, the lone wolf --- like always --- doing their own thing --- caring little about what the customer thinks or wants.

These 'copy to sim' threads have discussed the reasons many times --- and they are valid needs. If you can't see the 'why', then you haven't yet been in the situation where it was the only available choice

Update: What about when you get a new sim? NP if you're an AT&T customer, but everybody else must go though hurdles to get 'My Number' set on the sim so it shows up in iTunes. For me, I just used the wife's cheapo and 10 seconds later, it was set. Thanks for your help Apple
