hey guys, so according to the cnet article here:
Best Buy offers refurbished iPhones | Apple - CNET News
best buy will soon be offering iphones that are "refurbished", meaning returned to the store within 30 days of their initial purchase. Now i've heard that some stores are offering the "at home" activation for the iphone, where you activate it through itunes. So if its possible, couldn't you simply buy a refurbished 8 gb iphone from best buy, take it home to 'activate' but instead just immediately jailbreak/unlock using quickpwn and yellowsn0w on cydia? I'm not sure if best buy will allow you to use at home activation but if they did this seems like a surefire method of getting an iphone 3g for cheap (149 8gb refurbished), and would ensure that you get a phone that is guaranteed to work and isn't stolen (unlike some ebay/craigslist stuff)
I personally jailbreaked/unlocked an iphone 2g that was on att a few days ago so jailbreaking/unlocking it when it flashes "insert sim card to activate" seems to work perfectly fine, though i'm not sure if it holds up on the 3g.
Just a thought, i'm going to call up best buy later and see if they do at home activation, i might be upgrading if they do...
