Anyone else ever lost root password?

In-fact, I'm not sure that I lost it. I just can't ssh into my phone anymore.

I've searched through the boards and most people solved things by using installer to get an app that resets the root password.

I've recently updated to 1.1.4 and can't install installer.app without SSH'ing into the phone... but to SSH in, I need help from installer... catch-22 much?

I've tried changing my root password via Independence.app, but it doesn't seem to work, even though it reports success.

Anyone know if a full on "restore" through iTunes would reset the root? (or of another way to go about this?)

Cheers and thanks to anyone willing to help!

Ummm...

How can you SSH into the phone without the password?
That's my whole problem!

I'm kinda PO'd about the whole thing because I never changed my password, and it's not working, so I dunno what happened.

Can you install terminal via ibricker?

If so you can locate and use terminal to move/replace files for password. Maybe a bit messy but should work.

Hmmm, well I'm on a Mac, so iBrickr is out.

Does anyone know from experience that a FULL RESTORE, or DFU RESTORE will reset the root to alpine or dottie?
