Yellowsn0w question
Hi guys,
I am looking at getting a brand new iPhone 3G to use with t-mobile. Just wanted to make sure, with the release of yellowsn0w, does it matter what firmware is on the phone? Meaning, if I were to get one of the latest phones that AT&T stores are selling, would I be able to unlock it and jailbreak it to use with t-mobile?
Thanks for a quick response!

Just update to 2.2 and J/B....Then go to cydia and upload the repo...and install it, and let it do it job to unlock.

however, if you do get an iphone with a FW diff from 2.2, don't just update when itunes tells you that your FW can be upgraded.
If you have windows, use this:
iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your 2.x.x 3G iPhone Using QuickPwn (Windows)
If you have MAC, use this:
iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone With QuickPwn (Mac) [Updated 2.2]
Download all it tells you to and follow the step by step directions and you'll be good to go.

i dont know much about this but i know there's something about making sure you're on a certain baseband 2.28.0 or something of that nature. not sure if there's an updated baseband so far OR if what baseband the iphones come with now.
