iPhone got wet, scrubbed and working again but ...
Hi there everybody,
I'm a big fan of the iPhone and modmyi,
My wife and I have an iPhone 3G and we never had any problem with it, however, my brother dropped his in the toilets (I still wonder how one can do that) ...
Anyways, he gave it to a guy here in Paris that cleaned it all up inside and got it working again ...
He then gave it to me to jailbreak but when I connected it to my macbook iTunes couldn't recognize it ... it made the sound like the iPhone got connected and all but it didn't appear on iTunes so I put it on DFU and reinstalled it with pwnge tool and it worked fine again except for a major thing ... it doesn't pick up any network ... even with the all new yellow snow unlock ... Itunes recognize it now though but then freeze till a (0xE8000024) error appears saying itunes can't connect ...
So because I used to have network with the phone and I don't believe anymore I kinda hoped that the problem was only software ... Has anybody experienced anything like that before ???
Do you have any recomendation ... or things you think I should try ???
Please help ...
Thanx a lot
(iPhone 3G 16 GB 2.2 jailbroken and unlocked)

You say you gave it to somebody to wash it out inside when your brother dropped it, I don't see how that is possible though :/
But I'm not the one to judge, If you can connect to iTunes, Restore completely and if your under warranty, Take it to an Apple store.
However if your not under warranty, It's best if you give it back to the guy who cleaned it to see if he can do anything about it.
Good Luck!

Happened to someone I know, except with a 1st gen iPod Touch... I think the worker at the Genius Bar told him the Air Card was fried, which happens when it comes in contact with water. Probably happened to you, which is why you can't get a connection. It should also say "No Card" or something in your Settings under "Wi-Fi".

If I am understanding the post correctly, I think he means no carrier, not Wi-Fi. I have heard of this once before and I think it does have something to do with a similar problem. OP: Maybe the phone component of the... phone.. has become water damaged, I mean, the comm. center. I had an old iPhone that wouldn't pick up any carrier (It was dropped by my bf's step-mother. >_>) and the Genius that I spoke to explained that the comm. center wasn't functioning any longer. *shrugs*
