iphone + ipod sound dock = very bad
welp this past christmas i was at my girlfriends sisters house for christmas dinner. her sister had just got an ipod touch (which, to a newb...or 10 year old, can look a lot like an iphone.
so i come to find out her niece mistakenly put my iphone indo their bose sound dock and fried my phone. zapped it the **** out. yes im pissed but i guess this is all the more reason for me to get the 3G now.
but...i was just wondering if theres any way i can fix it? i bought the phone (1st gen) from a 3rd party and i have tmobile...so warrenty fixing is out of the question.
anyone got any ideas or suggestions? if theres any way i can fix it for reasonably inexpensive pricing, i'd be thrilled. lemme knowwwwww

How did it fry it? Does it turn on? have you contacted BOSE? Maybe they'll cover it. Did you pimp slap her? Does it charge? More info please.

haha nah shes a kid, she doesnt know wtf shes doing.
but anyhoo, aight the downlow goes as is:
iphone went COMPLTELY white with a black line going down the middle (kinda like what an old school television looks like when you turn it off. it stayed like that for good couple minutes then the screen went completely blank.
for awhile i tried to turn the phone on, but it wouldnt. i then decided to plug it in to the charger and let it sit for a little bit. about 10 minutes later, i decided to try to see if the phone would turn on again. when i went to pick it up, i noticed that it was EXTREMELY warm. the phone turned on..
after the phone finished booting up, the home screen appears, but not after i immediately get a pop up box stated "iPhone cannot send or recieve phone calls no longer. Please contact Apple Support." this is when i started to get scared...
so i clicked OK and then did a hard reboot. the phone started up again and with that message didnt appear this time! i had signal bars and everything. i was quickly relieved, especially after i tested it out by making several phone calls.
everything seemed to be fine....until....
my phone was still getting VERY interestingly warm while charging, so i said to myself, "well, just to be safe, ill not charge it right now even though im down to 41% battery life." so i pulled the carger and decided to check the weather.
well, not only 5 minutes go by, i look at my battery life and it was down to less than 10%!!!!! i pooped. i then began to think to myself that not only was my battery life dropping drastically, but so was my luck...
i decided to completely turn my phone off at 4% battery life and let it sit for approx. 4 hours...not charging.
when it was time for bed, i plugged my iphone in and let it charge (while off) during my sleep. well, when i woke up i checked my phone and i nearly burned my hand it was SO HOT..AGAIN! i said screw this...and kept it off ALL day and the following night, without charging.
finally, i decide to turn it on, and it wouldnt. i tried to charge it for awhile, but this time the phone kept cold as a cadaver. dead. i come to find out, the phone was deceased. RIP iphone.....for now, if i can get you fixed!
the end.

If its the 2g it's ridiculously dangerous. The battery is soldiered to the board any mistake and boom... if I am not mistaken.

I had a similar thing happen to me with an iPod Dock. I was messing with them at Target, and when I plugged it into one of them, the screen went white. I Immediately took the phone out, and all seemed well...... Until I got home, and I started getting pop-ups that said "your iPhone needs repair". I tried off and on, and tried to restore it. But the Restore froze, and eventually the battery died. RIP Thank god it was under warranty. ( and Apple didnt care that I was a T-Mobile user)
So long, and thanks for all the fish

Good luck with your iPhone. I hope you can still get it fixed.
I, on the other hand, have been lucky enough with the iPod sound dock I use with my iPhone. I've been using it to charge my phone for a whole month now and the iPhone isnt fried. I hope it stays that way !!

ive read that the sound docks put out far more wattage to the iphone than to the ipod...which is why it blew mine up
