Thread: Good Deal or Fake?
12-30-2008, 05:21 PM #1Good Deal or Fake?
I found another offer on craigslist where some guy is selling a brand new in box sealed iphone 3G (8GB) for $400. He said that it was unlocked so I called him up and asked if he got it from another country. He said they were and that this was the real iphone and not those clones. Now I was wondering, before I continue through with this deal, how can I check to see if the iphone is real and not the clone or some knockoffs. How would I also check to see that its not used nor is it refurbished? What signs should I look for? I think this deals a little fishy but since I get to meet him face to face there might be a chance that this the real deal. Also he claims to have white 8GB iphones, I thought white ones only came out for the 16gb?
Thanks in advanced.

They dont make White 8gigger's....unless someone has swapped the housing or its a fake. Or, he's just full of crap.
You'll have to see it in person to tell, you can run the serial # on Apple's website to verify. And you CAN tell a fake from the real thing. I havent seen a perfect fake yet.
But, Im about 200% sure he's full of it. No one sells legally unlocked 3g iphones for LESS than AT&T locked iphones are going for on craigslist or ebay.

Watch out. There have many people who show up with the cash thinking they are going to get a good deal and end up with a knife stabbed in their chest and have to spend their last minutes on earth thinking about how the hell they could let this happen. Nothing like bleeding to death in a Walmart parking lot while hundreds of spectators look on waiting to steal stuff from your corpse.
Do me a favor and take your own knife. Even if your not sure, just start stabbing. Better him than you.

My vote is for lethal action not legal

^Legal action? On "some guy off craigslist".....yeah, I promise you would never see him again once the money was in his hands.

If you're going to meet up take friends with the real bb-guns; have those friends act like they don't know you and if anything goes wrong those friends spring into action.

Just meet him. If he acts weird just stab him and take his car and iphones. Then you can be the shady dude selling iphones on Craigslist.

just messing. I got a black phone because they didn't have a brown one!
A friend told me that they don't sell brown iphones because they would run too slow and would only work half the time.

While his did seem fishy because of the "white 8 giggers" part...not all are scams.
I bought mine for 410 off craigslist, only had been opened to install a screen protector, never used or activated. I checked the seriel number and ran the IMEI number through the same database that's posted in the "BST" section and everything came back legit and so I bought it.
