Iphone Software Problem?

Hey guys, hows things?
I was just deleting all the data off my iphone...so i went into settings and click erase all content and settings so that it would go back to factory default and now it doesnt switch of and its frozen at a black screen with the silver apple logo in the middle, i have no idea whats wrong, ive tried holding down the power and menu button and still nothing happens, any ideas or suggestions?

When I upgraded to the 3G, I made the mistake of choosing this option to clear the 2G. My solution? While connected to iTunes, put the phone in DFU mode, and restore to the firmware version of your choice/availability.

if the phone is completely unresponsive, all you can really do is restore it. i've had this happen randomly where the phone will lock up and holding the power button for ~30seconds turns it off (sometimes that didnt work). if it doesnt boot past the silver apple logo, restore it.
