Erase all content and settings...
Does this option also delete contacts and SMS data? Or just save data that apps create?

that wipes out the whole phone.

What I'm trying to do is get rid of all that junk data that various apps leave around while keeping SMSs, contacts, etc intact. If I restore to factory settings and then restore from a backup, I get back my SMSs but also the app fluff.
Any ideas?
