Default ''Other'' Stuff on iTunes in iPhone

So my iPhone is synced - At the moment I have no music videos etc..I'm about to add some.

However, I look at the little graph they show in the bottom.
    "19.5 MB Photos"
    "888.7 MB Apps"
    "4.69 GB Other"
    "9.06GB Free"

Can someone tell me how I can check what the ''others'' are, or what classifies as other

SSH into your iphone and find out.

from what i know the "other" are the files that are needed to run your iphone and the firmware.

But i've never seen it with 4GB in itunes, its not like I just first saw it. It was always a relatively small number.

If you add those up, thats 14.83 GB
I always thought the other 1.2gb or so is used as firmware or so...

Now, I could ssh, but where would I look?

You picked a thread that is about a year old, that tells me that you searched for answers, Nice Job.
What your asking is a pretty complex question but really pretty easy once you get the basics.
Searching for your answers will be the key to learning. Also you will find a ton of vids on You Tube on how to do it.
Windows and Macs use different programs for this and it can be done with a USB connection or Wifi. Here is a Vid I found real quick, it's about doing it on old firmware but the concept is the same.
