    Default 3G w/GPS on T-Mobile

If I have a 3G unlocked iPhone on the t-mobile network will the GPS application still work?

GPS should be independent of the cellular signal, however, the iPhone's A-GPS also gets location information from nearby cell towers and wireless networks, so I'm not sure. I would think if you have a GPS signal, it will work fine. If you're relying on A-GPS to determine your location, it may not work.

Assisted gps should work too, all it does is ping whatever cell tower you're closest to.

While using google maps with the GPS function be aware that you will not be able to receive phone calls.. they will go straight to voice mail.

Im using a 3G with tmobile... and yes the GPS works. Although since google maps is on an edge connection, it isnt as smooth as it would be on AT&T. I tried my tmobile 3G side by side with an AT&T 3G, and the actual 3G connection made quite a bit of difference, much smoother while driving.

When using GPS on edge via tmobile, the GPS Blue dot will lag and jerk sometimes, so take that into account. But its still usable.

    Why is that?
And would it do the same thing for A-GPS/cell tower triangulation if you used a first generation iPhone?
