Unless you make some specific claims as to what exactly sucks it's hard to agree. The iPhone 3G has superior data speeds and much better speakers. Other than that I'd say it's not as constructed as well as the 1st gen iPhone... but in no way "sucks".

No....it doesnt.

Its capabilities exceed a 2g and its sexier. I doubt you know enough about the actual hardware/internal design of each to diagnose, my opinion on that would say the 2g has the potential to "out perform"...per say. And if you dislike the plastic housing like so many people, verses the aluminum housing of the 2g, thats really not a substantial reason to hate the 3g....again, in my opinion.

Yeah true. The plastic is good on my 3G iphones. It fell a few times and not even a scratch.
