How to restore without updating? need help.

Hi, I have a iPhone 2G 8GB. It was syncing on my iTunes and i accidentally unplugged it while syncing and now all my music is gone but it says 4.09GB is used and it says others instead of music and its in orange instead of blue which should be music. So technically all my 4.09GB worth of music is still in my iPhone but it says on my iPhone no music so i cant play my music, what should i do? should i restore it? if i restore it, i have to update it, but i dont want to update it to 2.2. Please help me anyone
Thaanks

you dont' have to update it when restoring. just make sure you hold ctrl (on pc) or option (on mac) and press restore and choose the firmware you want to restore your phone to

Yes you have to restore to fix this issue... why don't you want 2.2?

2.2 fixes all the issues reported on 2.0.2 and 2.1.

upgrading it to 2.2 has the same steps as restoring it to your current firmware. just follow the instructions in the wiki section here
