Installing Multiple Instances of Apps
Has anyone ever tried to do this? Basically, what I'm trying to do is have 2 copies of the same game installed. I'm not trying to run both copies at the same time, but rather just have two copies installed (each associated with a different username when accessing the game server). Can this be done? I tried SSH'ing and renaming the game folder under \private\var\mobile\Applications\3453452345\NewNam e.app but this resulted in the app not appearing on the springboard when I rebooted the device. Any ideas?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure, but renaming 1 version would seem the obvious thing to do. Make sure you rename the icon too as that could be why it's not showing after a re-boot.

I also tried copying the app folder to the root\Applications folder (where Cydia and Installer places apps). No dice. I can't be the first person to try to do this. Please help! Thanks.

Same thing
I am trying to do the same thing with no success. I would like to make two copies of the Lose It! app for my wife and me to keep track of calories. I've tried creating another copy of the directory under where the app store apps go and where the cydia apps are installed with no luck. I'm assuming there is a DB somewhere on the iphone that keeps track of this stuff and that may be why it's not working. If someone knows anything about this please let me and this other member of the forum in on how to do this. Thank you.

irrelevant
That's irrelevant to the question at hand. The point of this is trying to make a duplicate of the same app on the same phone to use in two different ways, whether that be for high scores on a game, or config settings etc.
