Exporting iPhone 3G to Russia
I have a close friend in Russia asking me if I can buy him 2 iPhone 3G's in the US and ship them to him in Russia, so he can use them their under a Russian service provider. Will this be possible? Legal? Can I unlock the new iPhone 3G's?
Thank you in advance!

Yes you can unlock iPhone 3G's 3 ways.
Way 1: Pay a hefty fee from the service provider you purchase the phones from to unlock them
Way 2: Wait for New Years Eve, And for the Dev-Team's software unlock.
Way 3: Use a Hardware unlock, Such as a TurboSIM or a Steath SIM.

Way 2 is my recommended way, Followed by Way 1.
Way 3 is highly recommended against.
Yes using an iPhone 3G in Russia should be legal if you get it unlock it. Yes it will be possible too.

Russia has legitimate carriers for the iPhone? It would just be a case of getting a sim from the legitimate carrier then connecting to itunes to activate.....
