Thread: USB Cable Difference
12-19-2008, 02:28 AM #1USB Cable Difference
I was wondering if there are any differences between the USB cable that comes with the ipod touch first generation and the USB cable that comes with the iphone 3G. I looked inside the leads and the appear to be in different positions. Does this affect the iphone, if using the ipod touch cable on the iphone, in any way? Will it affect jailbreak or any other things?

Hey, Sup man.
I don't think there would be that much of a difference with the cables, But just to be safe, Just grab a normal iPod's data cable
We don't wanna risk anything during the Jailbreak process :b

Ive interchanged a 2G and a 3G cable and both seem to work ok. Ive also charged and sync'ed both iPod Classic and iPod Nano (2nd gen) with an iPhone cable.
Disclaimer: I've only done this a couple of times so do not know if there are any long term ill effects.
If I've helped you, you can help me by clicking on that Thanks button.

Well I did my jailbreak using the iphone cable. It's weird though that the cable uses different leads; should uploading and downloading use same leads? Perhaps the leads close to each other are connected together? Thanks for your replies.

i have restored to custom firmware, charged, synced etc etc etc using an ipod 4th gen cable, the one that you have to release to remove from the dock of your ipod/iphone.
