OpenSSH problem: ALPINE will not work since upgrading to 2.2 - PLEASE HELP!
Before upgradeing my 1st gen iphone from 2.1 to 2.2 I had no trouble connecting my PC to my iPhone using OpenSSH via WinSCP. After the upgrade and re-jailbreaking my iPhone, I am unable to make the connection. Here's the info I get from WinSCP when I try to log on:
Searching for host...
Connecting to host...
Authenticating...
Using username "host".
Authenticating with pre-entered password.
Access denied.
I've tried the following:
- uninstalling and re-installing OpenSSH from Cydia
- uninstalling (including old settings, cache, etc.), upgrading and reinstalling WinSCP
- installing Automatic SSH and Toggle SSH per instructions found on YouTube
- entering login info into WinSCP without password and entering the password manually during the login process.
Seems that everything works (IP address, host, etc.) until it gets to the password. I thought there might be a new password for firmware 2.2 but I can't find any info on that.
I could GREATLY use some help!!!
Thanks,
John

I had a similar situation. I don't know why this fixed it but I set my iphone with a static ip making sure it wasn't the same one that it currently has. Reboot phone then connect.
Don't forget the Thanks if I helped

OMG... just download DiskAid
You don't need to login, WIFI, etc. Just plug in your iPhone and voila you are connected. No logging in , no BS.Android user suffering from iPhone withdraw.

I've been using that for about 2 months. DiskAid is great. I can install themes and access all the folders.
The reason why people have trouble connectiong with WinSCP is that when the WIFI on their iPhone is turned on in different locations it changes the IP address. It's never a Static IP address. I had to keep going in WinSCP and editing the iP address b/c it was always changing. I said the hell with WinSCP and found another program on this website. Best to get it while it's free because you never know when they'll start charging.
The only problem I've encountered with DiskAid is that sometimes you click on a folder and it's empty. You have to back out of the folder and open it again to view it's contents. Annoyed me somewhat but I've learned to live with it.Android user suffering from iPhone withdraw.
