Someone please help

I am still on FW 1.1.4....I have jailbroken and added several apps, wallpapers, etc. to my iphone.

What I am trying to do is upgrade to the latest FW (2.2 I believe) but I don't want to lose my pictures that I have taken with my iphone camera, contacts, ringtones and text messages.

What is the easiest way to accomplish this, someone please help.

Backup with iTunes, then restore from backup after upgrading

I know how to do the backup, but what exactly do you mean by restore from backup after upgrading? Sorry, I am not very good with this stuff.

if i were you i would not update. I did from that fw to 2.1 and i hate it. i totally regret updating because my phone cannot go back because it can only be recognized by itunes 8 or higher. If you have itunes 8 or higher you cannot downgrade. seriously think about it man.
