new phones still on 2.1 and old baseband!
I just left AT&T with a brand new white 16gb 3g and it has the 2.1 FW and old baseband so when the unlock is released in 2 weeks for 3g at this time you CAN still get a 3G phone with the 2.1 baseband.
Just an FYI.

wow, thats kinda odd, you would think they would update their product. what are you doing with a brand new 16GB white 3G iphone? you get a good deal and use the warranty? LOL you scoundrel you.

Nope, I just bought a black 16gb 3G that's only a month old and decided I'd rather have WHITE so headed to the ATT store today and bought it... you can even see what they charged me in one of the pics.
32 gb of 3G goodness

Yup, that's a white 3G and a car charger (lol).

I bought my dad a 16gb 3g that came with 2.1 about a week ago. The ones in store right now are going to be pretty valuable come new year. It's only a matter of time before they all run out just like the 1.1.1 did back in the day....
I might put down some money on a few ready to sell them unlocked in new year...

When I got my 3G in August, 2.0.1 firmware was out but my 3G had 2.0 on it. Likewise when we recently replaced my son's 2G under warranty, it came with 2.0.1 on it and 2.1 was already out a while.
