Is AT&T tracking our jailbroken Iphones?
A friend of mine who is a mac developer claims that framework 2.2 includes a modest tracking device which tells AT&T that my phone is jailbroken.
To be fair, my friend is known for making stuff up. That being said, is information being transmitted to AT&T as a result of this upgrade? Does this put our jailbroken phones at risk?

Tell your "friend" to grow up and suck on his thumb. No such thing exists.

I wish they could track us and see exactly what we put on here, then maybe they would tell apple how bada** our devices are and how we send mms. Maybe then we could get some changes.

Actually if you read the terms of use it says in it that Apple has the right to remotely remove and shut them off. this has actually been talked about heavily if you search it..

I have no reason to be sure he is an App developer either. People who make this stuff up piss me off. He makes his statements with such conviction of having first hand knowledge of the subject, I needed a reality check. I am sure he already has the tin hat.

I think that apple shouldn't have the power to shut off our iPhones remotely. We paid for it, and that means we can do the whatever the hell we want to it. Oh, and also thats an invasion of privacy. At&t couldn't afford a law suit like that.

I'd read the TOU before commenting like that. Look at MySpace and the stupid woman who possibly pushed a 13 yr old to suicide and now is getting into a legal battle not only with the state but with MySpace for falsifying information which is against the TOS. There’s a lot of **** everyone agrees to for various sites/applications/etc when you click that lil button.

After unlocking my iPhone and putting in a T-mobile sim card, I called T-mobile to ask a question. They knew at that moment that I was using an iPhone. Each phone has a coded ID that is sent to the towers. If a phone has Internet, there can be all kinds of communications between the phone and your provider. Whether you like it or not! Even Microsoft has told me...just leave your computer on and we'll get in there and fix your problems. Don't think a company can't shut down or change a computer or iPhone. And as a programer, a subroutine built into the firmware can be just the spyware that will make it easy to do.
