I have two 3Gs (mine and my wife's) and none are having the issues you mentioned. I would suggest to do a restore again and set as a new iPhone. Than, if you want to jailbreak it, you should use quickpwn. If when restoring your iPhone and setting it up as a new iPhone does not help, I would contact apple. However, lets wait for other responders as someone else may have another solution to your problem.

Well, I'm not sure if your a new iPhone user or not. But, it took me a while to learn the ways of the accelerometer. For one, if your phone is too close to laying flat, it won't register. I know this sounds sled explanitory, but I really did have to work at adjusting it to just the right angle. If your an experienced iPhone user, I've just wasted your time, but if not. Just play with it.

It sounds like you are pressing "update" instead of "restore"? Every time you update without restoring first, it adds "approx 500 mb of files." -Cpjr
