iphone home key not working and cannot restore
Just this morning something happened to my 2g iphone. I am not sure if I did something. It does several things, that make fixing it impossible.
1) The home key is unresponsive,to go back to the main screen I have to power off then back on.
2)No sound works, no noises come from the phone, nor does it play music. It is not on silent. I can hear if and when I make a phone call.
3)It drops in and out of service, it will be full then will say no service.
4)"This accessory does not work with the Iphone, would you like to put it in airplane mode, yes or no"
So because I cannot use the home key I cannot restore. I am running firmware 1.1.2 jailbroken and unlocked. I am not quite sure what I need to do...
Thanks for your help in advance!!

Most likely, your flex cable is damaged. If the phone is still under warranty, and you are on AT&T, you should send it in (if there's no visible damage to the phone of course).
Assuming you're unlocked/out of warranty, then your best bet is to talk to theone (his username). He has a lot of experience with this specific problem, and does the work for tips if you supply the parts.

Hey thanks man for replying...I bought it off ebay and have had NO problem whatsoever. This is the first in 1year. I am with AT&T but it is unlocked. I wrote to the1 and hopefully he knows what to do, Thanks again!

Well, untill you get your phone sorted, you can download "SBSettings" and "Close Button Widget" so that you dont have to restart your phone to close apps.

it's one1, not the1. you should be able to restore to stock firmware without using the home button. once on stock, let at&t sim card activate it then take it in to apple for a refurb

I've got this phone. Flex cable is definitely dead, but the fluxuating service shows the COMM board (radio) is possibly going out and frying the flex cable. Stick a new flex cable in it and it might just fry it again when you fire the phone up.
Testing it right now on a new frame and cable.......... let's turn up the juice and see what shakes loose.Screw #Winning, I'm #Juanning

Did you spill anything on it or get excessive moisture in the dock area?
I would have my URL here so you could hear our music but apparently that's sig spam. WTF?

I am having similar issues on my iPhone 2g running software version 2.2.1, its jail broken and unlocked :
1) The home key is unresponsive,to go back to the main screen I have to power off then back on.
2)iPhone Makes a buzzy sound while trying to use iPod
3)It drops in and out of service, it will be full then will say no service.
3)It can make calls but the the sound is very noisy for person on the other line
4)Wall Power charger won't detect the phone.
5)PC cannot detect the iPhone
6)iTunes cannot detect the iPhone. I know my cable and USB port as fine as everything works great with my iPhone 3G.
Can someone help me with fixing this issue. I know One1 knows a lot about this particular issue.
