aw man! I should have recorded my efforts to open the damn thing! took foreverrr! probably like 2-4 hours I tried everything from a icing knife to a real knife, a leatherman, anything and everything i could find at home, finally got it open but it got bent, scraped pretty bad!
although that powder coat idea isnt bad im sure its pretty expensive

Yeah bro, spend the $10 and get and order a kit off the internet with the correct opening tools.

Trust me, being one that has used many things to get iphones open, its worth it.

I think it looks like a bad paint job but if you're happy with it that's all that matters sport.

Yeah you can get em as cheap as like $3-4. Depends on if you need the size #0 screwdrivers or not. Or just the opening tools.

How's your black one you ordered pre-painted holding up?

The one I painted seems to be doing alright, but I'm ready for a new color now

Yeah, wish the back was in better shape otherwise it would have gotten painted....but you saw it, so you know that wasnt happening.

poweder coating is definately more expensive than spray painting... but its not gonna chip, crack, or scratch. plus it will be able to withstand increadably high temp levels! cause we all accidentally drop our iphones into our exhaust manifolds while working on our turbos... heh...

shouldnt cost you more than $30 tho.

I'm not criticizing, just wanted to add a tip... Being that the backing is aluminum, the paint does not adhere well to it. It would work better if you use paint made for aluminum. I know krylon makes a nice line of products. Kind of my 2cents from back in the days when i use to like painting bicycles. have fun on the project and i hope your search for new backing goes well.
