Install FontSwap through Cydia, works great and you don't have to go through the hassle of SSH'ing.

like what ALL DAY said, its much safer to go for fontswap unless u really know what ur doing. manually modding it is a bit risky indeed. if you dont want to mess up your beloved iPhone then go for fontswap!
