I decided to jailbreak my iphone 2.1. after doing so i downloaded a bunch of stuff from cydia. after this i decided 2 unlock the phone... after doing so nothing in winterboard works or my MiVTones... i tried unistalling and reinstalling...rebooting... nothing works. is there anyway i can fix this problem without restoring my phone because i do not want to upgrade to 2.2

Did you happen to upgrade Installer to Installer 4.0?
If so that is the culprit.
Restore
re-jailbreak
Check Cydia only
Reload all the programs you want.

But first open cydia and write down all the repositories and programs in Cydia.

My episode the other night was a result of Installer 4.0. I simply did the 2.2 restore, rejailbroke just checking cydia and reloaded as much as I could remember have on the phone.

yea i did upgrade my installer...but if i restore and upgrade to 2.2. will it mess up my phone since it is unlocked?

that depends on whether you have a 2g or a 3g. if a 2g your all good to go. if its a 3g and your still new to all this stay with 2.1 for a while
