Windows Explorer crashes everytime I plug in iPhone

Hi Guys, first time poster here.

I have a problem where everytime I plug/disconnect my iPhone, Windows Explorer (not internet explorer) crashes.

Here is the error message

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: explorer.exe
Application Version: 6.0.6000.16549
Application Timestamp: 46d230c5
Fault Module Name: iTunesMobileDevice.dll_unloaded
Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 4682ab30
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 040860f0
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 4105

I'm using Vista 32-bit.
I have a 2G iPhone running 2.1 and iTunes 8 but this was also happening when I was on 1.1.4 with iTunes 7. The eject button in iTunes doesn't make a difference.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It's not Internet Explorer that crashes, it's Windows Explorer.

have you tried locating the .dll, downloading a new one from another source, and replacing it? It's possible that the .dll is just corrupt and you need a new one, but iTunes isn't prompting it to reinstall.

I realize I'm posting on an old thread, but I'm having the same problem. Uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes appears to not help. As best I can tell, it has something to do with the automatic transferring of photos from my iPhone to my computer. I firmly believe this is a Windows Explorer problem and not iPhone or iTunes. Maybe a corrupt file.

Any suggestions would be appreciated and if I find a solution, I will post back.

Thanks,
M

I had a program call iPhone Browser installed and as soon as I uninstalled it, this problem stopped but I also uninstalled other unrelated apps at the same time (can't remember which ones) as well. If this works, use DiskAid as a replacement.
