I'm trying to unlock/activate my iPhone 3g (I have any-network sim so I can use my spanish sim card with the phone) problem is, the QuickPwn needs a newer firmware as my iPhone got 1. something..

Problem is, it WONT connect to iTunes so I can't update the firmware. someone help please : < I downloaded the IPSW file: iPhone1,2_2.0.2_5C1_Restore

but when I try and load it, I get this message;
The IPSW file you selected does not match the firmware version of your device. Please note that QuickPwn does not upgrade your firmware, it only jailbreaks whatever firmware you currently have on your device.

And I don't know how to activate the iPhone :/ and I don't have the sim you get with the phone (bought it from ebay) Really need some help from you masters on what to do, cause this is really annoying me : (

Problem #1 - the 3G iphone is not unlockable yet unless you have a proxySIM like TurboSIM (or whatever)

I would suggest you restore your phone to firmware 2.1 and then use quickpwn to activate and jailbreak. Then buy a proxySIM and use the phone.

what do you mean it wont connect to itunes. you are all over the place with this one. the 3g is not unlocked and i dont even understand what your talking about with this post. your saying your device is on 1.1.x but your selecting a 2.x file????? you need to give better details

When I connect the iPhone without any sim card in it (nor adapter) and run iTunes i get this warning:

Waiting for iPhone *loading*
iTunes cannot activate your iPhone because the SIM card is not inserted or a SIM PIN is required.

Disconnect your iPhone, make sure the SIM card is inserted correctly and, if you use a SIM PIN, tap unlock to enter it, and the reconnect your iPhone.

When I try and connect with SIM and adapter from any-network:
The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.

Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM that came with your iPhone (do not have cause i bought on ebay) or visit a supported Carrier's store to receive a replacement SIM card.

-So, you see my problem here :/ No matter what I do tis useless, can't activate it and I can't access iTunes to get the firmware I need..-

Sorry, I should have been more clear I downloaded (and was going to follow this guide) (<- look in the 'more info' part, it got links to the IPSW file I downloaded).

And that is IPSW I need, but I don't have the correct one or so, not sure myself :/ Thus I'm in need of such massive help

*Small note* when I got the sim adapter and my sim in I get to the 'emergency calls only' screen. But I am connected to Orange (my provider) and I can call and receive calls, I just cant enter the menu with the applications, text messaging, iPod etc.

You cant use quickpwn until you have the firmware installed on the device. in order to do this try putting your device in DFU mode and then connecting it to itunes to do the restore and put the firmware on it. Dont download the 2.2 firmware yet. just start by getting the thing in dfu mode and then try to restore

Yeah, sorta embarrassing but I did the DFU thingy, and then iTunes automatically brought me to the "Recovery status" so I shift clicked recovery and choose the file/firmware I dl'ed earlier. It's restoring atm (gonna take a while by the looks of it)

Really sorry for being stupid and not knowing/tring the DFU mode -__-' thought I had to use that later on during the 'jailbreak' part :/ oh well, thank you for swift replies.

Hehe sorry.. Just had the phone for almost a month or so, then had to wait for the sim adapter to arrive, and now I couldn't get it work ^^ went all nutsoid

Jailbreaking going well, im installing bundles and such atm ^^ well, it is doing itself on it's own.. go QuickPwn... just, I mustn't upgrade to .02 ? I don't think sim adapter I have covers it ;o

Yay, tis working got apps and such, or atleast the "home" and can access sms's, contacts and such :3 Only annoying part is the connection to my network 'Orange' is kinda weak.. or maybe its one of those bugs i've read about?

the firmware you DONT want to upgrade to PERIOD is 2.2 the other ones should work fine unless you were unstructed differently by your sim adapter manufacturer. just say no to 2.2 until you have a better understanding of jailbreaking and how it all works.

Also, I heard I can copy contacts from my sim, so I don't have to add every single one manually.. but can't find it ;o care to help out?

sure can with that one. go to settings>mail, contacts and calendars> then there is a button to import sim contacts. just did this last night and it worked perfectly
