Extremely Low Call volume

Ok when I make a call on my iphone 2G the call volume or the person on the other end, it is almost impossible to hear them or understand what they are saying. I have the volume turned up all the way. When it is on speakphone or i have headphones plugged in the volume is more than sufficient but when nothing is plugged in or the speakphone is turned off and i use it like a regular phone I can not hear the person at all. Does someone know a setting or a way to fix this?

I had an iPhone that happened to a while back. I googled it and found a post where someone fixed it by getting a needle and moving the ear piece speaker around by pricking it. Of course if you push to hard you could break it for good or whatever else. I must say it made a big difference on sound, but it still didn't go back to 100%. I'd suggest googling your problem, i'm sure you'll find the post that helped me. btw If it's in warranty, could you just return it?
