Can you stop Wifi disabling when the lock screen comes on?

Whilst i understand that this may have some implications for security / battery life...does anybody know if you can allow Wifi to stay connected when the phone is locked?

I have to keep unlocking to check for email, most annoying!

insomnia will keep your wifi connected. should be available in cydia
