Battery problems after 2.2 upgrade

I recently updated my iphone 2g with a custom 2.2 firmware (unlocked & jailbroken)

I charged my iphone all day yesterday, and turned it off when I went to bed, when I tried to turn it on this morning, it woulden't turn on and just showed me a picture of a battery.

As I could see the battery had no charge at all.........

Why would this be when I turned it off last night with a full charge???

Mine to, my iphone won't hold a charge at all, I had it plugged in for 8 hours only to find out its still dead, I tried pluggin it into a PC, into the Wall, different cables... NOTHING! ... my $900 phone is DEAD :@

Please help !.

[Edit1]
So, I noticed you can still enter DFU mode and restore your phone, I haven't done this yet to see if it corrects the issue but i'll let you know.

[Edit2]
Hey, My phone is fixed !

Try entering DFU mode and let your phone charge that way.

Then after about 2 hours, try to turn it on.

I had the same problem after I first updated on my 3g. My phone ran very hot and wouldn't charge (overnight in my iHome). I re-pwanaged (a couple of times). This seemed to solve the problem. The updates to Winterboard and Intelliscreen also helped reduce the battery load. Now my battery is holding up for the entire day (like b4)

I had a similar problem back when I had upgrade to 2.1. I found that fixing permissions solved the problem for me. See my post at http://www.modmyi.com/forums/general...nt-charge.html I can't remember where I had originally read to do the permission fix thing to fix it, but it worked.

I haven't had a problem with charging the battery. I have had problems with it keeping charge though. I can almost say without joking that if I am constantly on forums, as I have been for an hour now, every minute seems to take 1% away. I do not have intelliscreen installed, nor do I have winterboard. Just a plain jane update. I restored it and now testing it without JB to see if there is a differance. So far the results are the same. ( I haven't install inteliscreen or winterboard since 2.2)

I was getting the same battery not holding a charge issue before jb. This was after I upgraded from 2.02 to 2.1. I was originally told that my problem was my bootloader and that I would need to downgrade all the way to 1.1.4. The problem with that solution is that I had never unlocked my phone only jb and I could not see how that was going to fix my problem. Someone then suggested that while I was using 2.02 that I probably had some screwed up permissions. If I had just upgraded to 2.1 without doing a restore from backup, I would probably have no issues. But since I did a restore from backup, I just restored the permission issue files back onto my phone. You might be thinking, what in the world does file permissions have to do with the battery holding a charge. I don't know exactly. Maybe a program that is related to monitoring the battery did not get started properly. One other thing, and this is what had brought up fixing the permission issues in the first place, my mail application would crash on startup. I had not even jb the phone yet and mail would crash as soon as I would try to open my gmail inbox. I have a feeling that everyone else issues here is probably not the same situation as mine and doing a permission fix will not correct it.
On a different note, my wife's phone suddenly would not hold a charge. Her phone had never been jb. She ended up taken it to the Apple store Geniuses and they replaced it. Oh, and this was her fourth replacement. All replacements were not battery related. What do they give you as a replacement phone, some refurbish piece of crap? Luckily it has been about a year now and no problems.
I hope you all get it straighten out.
