Has anyone replaced a microphone on a 2G?

Hi!

I need to replace the tiny little mic. on a a 4GB 2G. There seem to be plenty available on eBay (here's one NEW MIC MICROPHONE SPARE PART FOR iPHONE 4/8/16 GB 2G - eBay (item 380084314070 end time Dec-23-08 20:02:44 PST)) but most have long solder-pins sticking out of them.

They _claim_ to be iPhone mics for 2G phones but the part inside my phone has tiny little pads rather than pins.

Will I be OK just trimming down the pins on the eBay mic's ?
