New Google Street view help

how the hell do you use the new street view freature with out having to put in a direction...like if i want to look up my house which i know i can see on street view cause i've seen it before, but i can't see it on my house

so my question is...how do you use it..

zoom into your house however you want, then select "drop pin" and drop it and if its got a street view the orange icon will be lit up like normal
