IPhone wont reboot

Hi folks , I tried to reset my 2g Iphone last night, to clear all contacts etc cos im selling it. It was on 2.1 Jailbroken. Now , i get the apple picture, and the little timer spinning around, then it stops. The only way to turn the fone off is to hold the home and power buttons down for 10 secs , then it goes off. other than that , pressing either button on its own does nothing. all help welcome please !

sorry , forget to mention , plugging the fone in my pc does nothing either , it isnt recognised .

Ok people, i have managed to get it into DFU mode , only thing is , its gonna have 2.2 on it now , and be locked , but the buyer can worry about that !
